Fund types
You can view all funds or compare by fund type:
- Defensive
- Conservative
- Balanced
- Growth
- Aggressive
Funds differ in where they invest your money and their level of risk. Defensive funds invest most of your money in cash and bonds. That means they’re lower risk, but the returns may also be lower. At the other end of the scale, aggressive funds are chasing high returns and are higher risk. They invest mainly in shares and property.
Fees and returns
For each fund, you can view annual fees and five-year returns data (where available). This data is sourced from the Commission for Financial Capability's website smartinvestor.sorted.org.nz.
Fees show what you would have paid if you had $30,000 in the fund. This includes management, administration and performance-based fees.
Five-year returns show how much the fund has grown in value on average each year over the past five years (after fees and taxes were taken out). NR = not recorded.
It’s important to bear in mind that returns show how funds have performed in the past – they’re not an indicator of how they’ll do in the future.
Satisfaction ratings
Our provider satisfaction ratings are from a nationally representative survey of 1920 New Zealanders, carried out in February 2025. The ratings show the proportion of respondents who scored their KiwiSaver provider 8, 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (very dissatisfied) to 10 (very satisfied). Ratings are for providers that had 30 or more responses in our survey.
People's Choice
The People’s Choice endorsement is given to KiwiSaver providers that rate above average for customer satisfaction in our annual surveys and meet our other performance criteria.
